As of 2 October, The European Commission has proposed an extra 12 months extension for the application of EUDR. If approved by the European Parliament and the Council, the law would apply on 30 December 2025 for large companies and 30 June 2026 for micro and small enterprises.

In the communication from The European Commission, EUDR implementation guidance has been included covering a diverse range of issues such as legality requirements, timeframe of application, agricultural use, and clarifications on the product scope.

In addition, the latest EUDR FAQ, has been updated, featuring over 40 new additional answers to address questions raised by a diverse range of stakeholders from around the world.

It has also been announced that a dedicated Information System for registering due diligence statements will be available in November, and will be fully operational by December.

While the deadline has been pushed back, companies shouldn’t pause their efforts to comply as continuing as planned will give them a strategic advantage if they:

  • Use the EUDR deadline extension to create a robust compliance strategy.
  • Utilize new guidance to address uncertainties and streamline their sustainability efforts.
  • Maximize efficiency by integrating EUDR, CSRD and CS3D, into a comprehensive sustainability strategy
